Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can severe Dizziness Along With Headache Be Treated?
I have been told that my AlC is 7.1 - my endocrinologist asked me if I had any symptoms of Diabetes like extreme thirst - I drink a lot of water normally so no extreme thirst - just fatigue - this morning I was dizzy for a short time and laid time for 10-15 minutes and felt better. Right now just cold - cold hands and slight headache - did have mashed potatoes for dinner last night and thought maybe they affected my blood sugar today. Also have hypothyroidism, Reynaud s disease and Diverticulosis. Seeing my endocrinologist this week. He may want to start me on Metformin but do not want to go that route. Not sure what to do.
Your A1C level of 7.1 is a higher than normal range. We should look at your fasting blood glucose and oral glucose tolerance test levels.
Next, usually persisting high blood sugar will cause damage to thyroid gland, leading to hypothyroidism. On the other hand, hypo thyroid itself will cause aggravating diabetes control. It's a closed circulus.
Should start Metformin. Both diabetes and hypothyroid will cause you to have unusual fatigue. Take alpha-lipoic acid supplement to regulate microcirculation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
